Philippa Evans decided it was time to buy her first home and escape the rent race. She was eager and excited, but also very scared and intimidated. She knew it would be complicated and time consuming. She wondered if she really was ready to take such a big step and buy her first home.
Philippa’s adventure of buying a home would begin with her search for a mortgage as she wanted to find out what it would take. “First I tried Lending Tree,” said Philippa. “But I was inundated with phone calls and emails and couldn’t get a control of the situation. I knew that wasn’t going to work for me.”
Then I called one of the meg-banks, said Philippa. “I hated them overall. I was just another application; another part of their assembly line. I was asked again and again to email them. All of this made me second guess if I should even try to buy a house.”
The next stop was builder financing. “I spoke to my builder, but had a very uneasy feeling about them. I was already struggling with them building my home and struggling with them as a lender wasn’t something I was willing to do,” Philippa said. “They would offer builder incentives that didn’t make sense to me and I was obviously once again just a number to them and they didn’t care about me at all.”
All along Philippa’s mom was urging her to talk with the credit union. Her mom is a diehard credit union fan and knew that if Philippa would just give them a chance, she’d find all that she needed right there. “I wasn’t sure my credit union even offered home loans, but I already had my auto loan through them and that was a good experience so it was worth calling to find out.”
“I finally called the credit union and was connected with Loan Officer Denise Dixon and was completely put at ease,” said Philippa. “Denise understood my feelings and never made me feel like I was just an application to her. She took her time to answer all my questions and make me comfortable with the steps I needed to take.”
Denise also took very good care of me and had my best interest at hand, explained Philippa. “She wasn’t pushy with me, but she was a pit bull as my advocate when I needed her to be. I had a problem with my title company at closing and she took care of it and made it like it wasn’t a big deal.”
All in all, my Loan Officer Denise Dixon gave me the time I needed to learn and make my decision about things. She called after hours and was prompt in responding to emails and phone calls. Her commitment made me feel comfortable and confident in this major undertaking. She was my teacher and encourager when I got frustrated. “I learned so much about the home buying process that will serve me well into the future,” said Philippa. “Thank you Denise for the excellent customer service.”
